Sacrifice Your Right To Be Selfish

Sacrifice Your Right To Be Selfish

Leaders lose the right to be selfish. When someone is called to lead, they no longer can worry about themselves. An effective leader puts others before themselves. This lesson took me a while to learn. In fact, it is a lesson i am currently learning.

When i first started to lead, I focused on myself. I never considered the opinions of others. I was so caught up with myself. I had pride. I had a bad attitude. I was selfish. My leadership was a mess. I had no control. I definitely did not deserve to be a leader. I know for sure I was not ready. It got to the point where i lost everyone. I lost everything.

God does not make mistakes when he calls people. If God calls a person to lead, it is because he sees in them what they don’t see in themselves. God told me that I would be a leader when I was 10 years old. Ever since, he has been constantly reassuring me that I am a leader. All this time, God has been preparing me to lead.

If I am honest with myself, I don’t feel like a leader. I am a mess. I lost my focus. I am afraid. I am lacking confidence. I am not motivated. I am tired. I am constantly complaining. I don’t know what to do. I know that God has called me to be a leader, but i am far from it. I am not ready.

God calls the smallest person. If we don’t feel ready, he prepares us. If we feel lost, he guides us. If we are tired, he renews our strength. When God calls a person, he gives them all the necessary tools to help them become the person he wants them to be..

I was the least fit to be a leader, yet God chose me. It was for a reason. Everything I have ever lived has lead up to this moment. 10 years ago God made me a promise. Today, I am seeing that promise get fulfilled. I am constantly learning and growing. God will never leave my side. I feel better knowing that God does not give us tasks that we can’t handle. If we are going through situations, it is because we are capable of overcoming them. God won’t let us fall.

You are a leader. Don’t ever think less of yourself. If you don’t feel ready, it’s ok. Don’t worry or panic. It only means God is still preparing you. When you are ready God will tell you. God did not make a mistake when he called you. If he said you are a leader, belive it with all your heart. Believe in yourself and trust in God.

Pray to God and ask him to prepare you to lead. Ask God to give you the necessary tools you will need as a leader. Ask God to develop your leadership skills. Ask God to show you what he saw in you.

Philippians 2:3

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”
