Rough Patch

Rough Patch

2017 was a disappointing year. Perhaps, it brought you a lot of pain and suffering. Maybe, projects were left unfinished. Goals were not met. Life was dull and meaningless. Waking up in the morning became a hassle. This year changed you as a person. You are not the person you wanted to be. You stand far from the blessing you waited so desperately to arrive that never showed. If 2017 was not your year, 2018 will be yours.

They say everything happens for a reason. Well, I say everything happens to build you up.  Those moments 2017 broke you, served a far greater purpose. The challenges and obstacles of 2017 pressured you. They made you uncomfortable for a reason. They pushed you out of your safe area into uncharted territory. You had to learn, adapt, and overcome. 2017 may have been a disappointment, but it served its purpose. It shaped you. It formed you. It made you.

There are blessings that require a person to be strong. Blessings come with their own weight. If you are unable to carry that weight, it will cause you to fall. You walked into 2017 as a lost soul, but you march into 2018 as a leader. 2018 is going to be your year. You already proved yourself. You have shown that you are capable and mature enough to handle your upcoming blessings in a responsible way. You made it all the way to the start of 2018. The fight is over. The wait has finally come to a halt. The pain will no longer be felt. The desperate cries will no longer be heard. The emptiness will be filled. The blessings will finally show. Your faith has payed off. Everything is about to change.

God took his time with you. He is patient with us so we do not fall. God was there every time you cried out to him. He sat by your side in the silence of night. God had the authority to step in and give you a miracle right when you felt you needed one most. But, God knows what is best for you. You no longer have to look back, but look ahead. The uncertainty will fade away. All fear will be swept by a wave of amazement. 2018 holds many blessings for you. The blessings of 2018 will far outlast the time it took for you to receive them. For the blessings that God gives are eternal. Once in your possession, it will always be with you. This is why 2017 was worth it. The payoff is a lifelong blessing. The fulfillment of God’s promise to you shall pass.

Enjoy your blessings in 2018. Happy New Year!

2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
