How Long, Oh Lord?

How Long, Oh Lord?

We have all reached that point in our lives when we are overwhelmed by hardships. In these moments of great pressure, we become desperate for relief. We long for peace of mind. It is at the peak of our breaking point when we finally swallow our pride and seek God. Only in moments of grief do we cry out to our father. Sometimes we are so apart from the God who loves us that he allows us to go through hardships to get our attention. Living a christian life is not easy, but God should not have to Go through great lengths to get our attention. God works in mysterious ways. In the bible we find proof that God works in wondrous ways. We will never understand the way God orchestrates our daily life. The great thing is that the bible reassures us that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God is never too far away from us. God will never leave the righteous unanswered. God will never put you aside because of your sin or past mistakes. God wants us to live long, satisfying lives. If you are going through hardships, take it as a sign that God is trying to get your attention. He wants to rescue you from the situations. Seek God as much as you can. The psalmist David cried out to God during times of hardships. He was searching for an answer from God. He was very specific of what he wanted. He was asking God to deliver him from all his enemies and persecutors. David must have been crying out to God for a while without any answer. David begins to say, “How long, Oh Lord? How long?” David was probably questioning where God was. God has been with David since the moment he was anointed as king. He might of felt abandoned. He might of felt forgotten. David was a human being. He could of been thinking the worst during the hardships. It’s common for us to question God when he doesn’t answer us. But David kept believing. He was persistent. But God’s timing is perfect. When God finally answered David, he set him free. He rescued him from the sword.

Pray to God and ask Him how much longer. Cry out to God for help. Ask him to set you free from all the hardships you face. Believe that God, in his perfect timing, will do something amazing for you.

Psalm 13:1-6

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, Lord my God.Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.
