Don’t Be Afraid Of What Lies Ahead

Don’t Be Afraid Of What Lies Ahead

Don’t be afraid of what lies ahead. Sometimes during all the difficulties and situations we forget that God is by our side. Fear weakens us and doubt overwhelms us. Its perfectly OK to feel scared. It’s OK to doubt. We are only humans. Sometimes it really does seem like there is no way out. Sometimes we feel like we are drowning in the ocean of life. During these situations you discover who you really are. There are two types of people you can choose to be. You can be a quitter or you can be a winner. The decision is up to you. We need to learn to change our mentalities. We need to learn how to have faith. Sometimes we just need to let go of everything and put our trust in God. No matter how hard a situation gets, God will rescue us. We can’t just let ourselves drown. We need to do something about it. If you want to navigate life and sail through the storm to calm waters you need to work with God. Call out to him. Try as hard as you can to spend whatever you have left on your faith. God won’t let you drown. If you are looking for a job go out and start applying. If you are looking for love go out and start browsing. If you are looking for friends go out and socialize. If you are looking to make some money go out and invest. The point is that we need to go out and do our part. When Peter began to drown in the water he didn’t accept his death. He immediately cried to Jesus for help. Jesus rushed over, grabbed his hand, and pulled him out. This is a very simple concept that is hard to apply when our minds are focused on surviving. We have to be strong. Filter out the bad situation. We need to be at peace in our minds and trust fully in God. Focus on the reward and nothing will be able to stop you. To have fear is to have doubt. God did not give us a spirit of fear but of strength. If you took the time to breathe and look back at all the times Jesus has rescued you, you would realize that God will not leave you stranded. There is a quote that says, “don’t let fear of the unknown stop you from believing in a known God.” God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. If Jesus was able to rescue Peter from drowning then he can also save you from whatever situation you face. Don’t let fear control your life. Confront fear. You are greater than the situation because if God is with you then who could stand against you?

Pray to God and ask him to fortify the walls of your faith. Be very honest with him and let him know that you are afraid. Cry out to God and be confident that he will pull you out. Think of ways that God can rescue you.

Matthew 14:25-32

“Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”  “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.”
